The course (certified by GRIN ) has two different curricula:
Intelligent and mobile computing and Modelli e sistemi dell'elaborazione dell'informazione.

They share the objective of making students learn theoretical, methodological, and technological skills in all Computer Science fields presented during the first cycle, according to GRIN and ACM standards.

The Intelligent and Mobile Computing curriculum aims to prepare the degree holder to the challenges presented by the pervasiveness of the web, by the increasing computing power and data acquisition, by the availability of low-cost, broad-spread computing devices, integrated in everyday use objects (pervasive/ubiquitous computing e IoT) and by the growing demand of related application programs and high-quality interfaces.

The Modelli e sistemi per l’elaborazione dell’informazione curriculum aims to achieve more general Computer Science training, meant to provide cognitive tools to address issues related to the design and management of computer systems, algorithms and advanced applications and their evaluation in terms of performance and security.

The course trains professionals capable of working in the contexts of design, organization and management of computer systems, both in manufacturing companies in the areas of computer systems and networks and in public administrations and laboratories that use complex computer systems.

Typical job profiles are I.T. technician, application software developer for desktop or mobile environments, system administrator, software engineer, web developer, web master, e-commerce expert, designer of scientific computing applications...

The degree holder will be capable of working in all of the most important fields of employment of this areas: design, developement and distribution of computer and telematic products and services; design of computer networks, distributed systems and telematic systems; corporate and institutional training; consulting to businesses and public entities also in specific areas, such as scientific and/or industrial computer systems and virtual reality..

In 2010 an international exchange programme with the Department of Computer Science of the Hong Kong Baptist University started. Since 2012, the Summer Exchange Program offers students the opportunity of a scolarship to partecipate in exchanges, lasting just a few weeks or a full semester, in the Asian metropolis of technology and innovation, to follow advanced university courses, with recognition of training credits. Every year, in turn, HKBU students spend part of the year in our Department, and our students tutor them.
In general, in order to increase internationalization, our Department encourages students to partecipate in exchange programmes with Università having a training credit system comparable to the ECTS system. Study opportunities abroad are made available to students through special selection invitations. Selected students will be granted financial support in the form of mobility grants, usually in the context of the Erasmus programme.
The duratoin of the exchanges is usually between 3 and 12 months. The study plan and the exams to be taken abroad must be reasonable relation to the duration of the exchange.
