Aim of the research

 

The Research Group "Measure and Integration in Approximation Theory and Applications" (M.I.A.T.A.), was founded in 2009, through the active cooperation of the local units at the Universities of Perugia, Cosenza, Potenza and Udine. The aim of the project are the development of approximation theory issues which are based on questions of measure and integration theory; these issues are the basis on which rest many theoretical problems posed by the technological world. In particular, the goal of the project is the study and the improvement of mathematical models for an efficient reconstruction of signals and, in particular, of images.

The working group has developed from many years the skills on this field, and had a good experience on these arguments thanks also to external collaborations with European universities that will be strengthen and developed.

The interaction between theoretical models and applications is testified by the collaboration, active for several years, with the section of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery of the University of Perugia, consisting on the analysis and the image processing for the study of aneurysms and arterial stenosis.
